The Malawian film School Days took the nation by storm and now its star Tumpe Nigel Ntaya popularly known as Phwedo, is set to showcase his versatility once again. Confident in his craft Phwedo has asserted that he can embody any character assigned to him by directors. In the upcoming film Welcome to Maula Prison, he promises to deliver a performance unlike any before.

Last year Phwedo captivated audiences with his outstanding portrayal of a rebellious student in the award winning School Days. His performance stood out in an industry filled with familiar roles proving his talent and potential.

As excitement builds for Welcome to Maula Prison, Phwedo has assured fans that while his acting will be just as remarkable, his role will be completely different. "An actor should be able to transform into any character. Personally I am ready to take on any role given to me," he emphasized, showcasing his dedication to versatility.

He further pointed out that while some actors are confined to specific roles, he refuses to be boxed in. “A rolling stone gathers no moss,” he remarked, highlighting his commitment to growth and adaptability.

Regarding the new film, Phwedo remained tight-lipped about the plot, explaining that the team wants audiences to experience the story without spoilers. However he did reveal that Welcome to Maula Prison is both highly entertaining and educational, with four distinct storylines woven into it. Filming began last year and wrapped up this year.

The highly anticipated movie is set to premiere nationwide, starting in Lilongwe at BICC on May 2nd, followed by Blantyre’s Mount Soche Hotel on May 3rd, and concluding in Mzuzu at Chisanga Complex on May 4th. Fans across Malawi can look forward to an unforgettable cinematic experience.

 Malceba Renowned hip-hop artist Mazaka Smart Banda, popularly known as Macelba, has unveiled the much anticipated music video for his song Chosadziwa Part 2.
