Rap rivalry heats up as gatta and Jizzy exchange diss tracks
The Malawian hip hop scene is ablaze with controversy as Blantyre-based rapper Achina Gattah takes aim at Lilongwe’s Ace Jizzy and Bee Jay in his latest track, Mpando. The song, released yesterday, has reignited tensions between the two camps, fueling online debates over lyrical supremacy.
The drama stems from Jizzy’s earlier release, Dodi Dodi, which featured notable Malawian artists such as Tay Grin and Saint. One particular line suggesting that “Gattah should be substituted for underperformance” sparked speculation that it was a direct shot at Gattah. Fans immediately dissected the lyrics, drawing comparisons between Dodi Dodi and Mpando to determine which artist delivered the harder hitting response.
JizzyIn an interview with Malawi24, Jizzy downplayed the controversy, insisting that the line was simply part of the song’s football themed concept. However, Gattah dismissed the idea that Dodi Dodi influenced his latest track, coolly responding, “Let that sink in.”
This lyrical feud is just the latest in a series of indirect shots exchanged between the two rappers in their past releases. With hip-hop’s diss culture deeply rooted in global rap history from Tupac vs. Biggie in the U.S. to Malawi’s own JB vs. Phyzo the Gattah vs. Jizzy rivalry has stirred nostalgia among hip-hop enthusiasts.
As the debate rages on, fans eagerly await the next move in this unfolding rap battle. Will Jizzy fire back, or has Gattah claimed the throne?
