Tapps Bandawe Applaudes minister Mumba for supporting Malawian music
Renowned Malawian music producer Tapps Bandawe has expressed his gratitude to Minister of Labour Vitumbiko Mumba for recognizing the significance of art and talent in Malawi.
Bandawe’s appreciation follows his recent selection as a judge for the "Dolo Amavotera Chakwera" music competition. In a recent interview, he highlighted the need for leaders like Mumba to help elevate the country’s music industry.
This view is shared by other Malawian artists, including Blasto, who is currently performing in Jamaica, an opportunity made possible through Mumba’s support.
The "Dolo Amavotera Chakwera" competition, which is politically affiliated and spearheaded by Mumba, boasts a prize pool of 25 million kwacha. With over 200 entries received, five winners will each receive 5 million kwacha.
Bandawe, alongside fellow judges Graiton GD Pasanje (Daredevilz) and Sophie Mponda, has been entrusted with selecting 15 standout songs from the submissions. The shortlisting process begins today, and the final five winners will ultimately be determined by public voting.
